Attended Vulcan Science Academy, received undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences in 2360. Upon graduation from Starfleet Academy Medical, posted to U.S.S. Enterprise with rank of Lieutenant, 2364. Sickbay staff physician under Chief Medical Officer Beverly Crusher. Assisted with transition to chief medical officer Katherine Pulaski, 2365 and Beverly CrusherΓÇÖs return to Enterprise in 2366. On stardate 42437.5, upon PulaskiΓÇÖs recommendation, Selar led Away Team to render medical assistance to Dr. Ira Graves, prominent cyberneticist, on Gravesworld. Selar diagnosed him with terminal DarnayΓÇÖs disease. Was attending physician at GravesΓÇÖs death. In 2369, Selar cared for several away team members injured with Captain Jean-Luc Picard when they were attacked at a conferece with the Lenarians. (PicardΓÇÖs artificial heart had been hit by a compressed teryon beam, almost killing him. ) Later that year, Selar acted as chief medical officer for a shor t time when Dr. Beverly Crusher was temporarily suspended for violating medical ethics (Crusher had performed an unauthorized autopsy on the Ferengi Dr. Reyga). In 2370, Selar provided medical care to Enterprise personnel during early stages of outbreak of BarclayΓÇÖs Protomorphosis Syndrome, but ultimately contracted syndrome along with remainder of crew; made full recovery. Following destruction of Enterprise-D in 2371, transferred to U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E. Served with distinction as staff physician. Took personal leave to return to Vulcan later that year, reason not specified.In 2373, upon recommendation of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, promoted to Lieutenant Commander and assigned as Chief Medical Officer of U.S.S. Excalibur under Captain Mackenzie Calhoun. Currently on extended mission to explore and render humanitarian aid in Sector 221-G.
